Which formula applies?
- Cold (≤ 10°C / 50°F): the NWS Wind Chill formula uses air temperature and wind speed. Wind pulls heat from exposed skin faster, so it feels colder.
- Warm (≥ 27°C / 80°F): the NWS Rothfusz Heat Index formula uses air temperature and relative humidity. High humidity slows sweat evaporation, so it feels hotter.
- In between: neither effect is significant, so feels-like is essentially the actual temperature.
